Jon Capps/Jungle Jim car will not run with IHRA

Everybody in the journalism business makes mistakes. Yesterday, it was the IHRA’s press department’s turn. Their press release sent out announcing that Jon Capps driving the Texas based Jungle Jim tribute AA/FC Camaro would join the IHRA Monster Jam series at Rockingham in May turned out, through no fault of theirs, to be completely wrong.

As it turns out, AA/FC racer John Dunn controls who will and won’t get an invitation to the IHRA Monster Jams and he hadn’t signed off on that deal. He refused to do so because Mr. Dunn had signed commitments from eight AA/FC teams (The Jungle Jim team not one of them) to run the series before the season started and would honor his word to them.

Jon Capps did drive the Jungle Jim car at Baton Rouge in place of Army Armstrong but Armstrong and his Bullet Bob car will be repaired and he and the car will return to the tour at Rockingham the first weekend in May.[3/12/2010]
