$70 K up for grabs at Boise! Where are the AA/FD’s ?

The New family is putting up a combined purse of over $70,000 for their 16-car qualified fields of AA/FC and AA/FD! Today it appears that there will be 18 to 20 AA/FC cars at the Boise event Aug. 13-16, one of the premier races for AA/FC and AA/FD cars each year.

Agent 1320 continually is queried as to why there aren’t more races for AA/FD cars, why they don’t get more ink and why promoters are reluctant to book them. This is one reason boys. The purse is over $35,000 with 16 guaranteed spots and so far it looks like around 11 cars by DRO’s unofficial count will be coming. You guys want more races and bookings then you have to support the races and promoters that have them or be prepared for even less races in the future.

Here is the unofficial list to date:

Lambright to make pro debut in InstiGator FC

Austin "Coil" Lambright will make his second start this weekend behind the wheel of the Hoosier Thunder Motorsports Alcohol Funny Car known as the Amalie Oil “InstiGator.”

It will be Lambright's first professional appearance at a national event. The IHRA Northern Nationals begin this weekend at the U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin Michigan.

Lambright will pull double duty this weekend. He'll drive the team Funny Car and continue his duties on McMillen's Amalie Oil/Wolverine Boots and Apparel Top Fuel Dragster. While Lambright is just 22 years old, he already has 12 years of drag racing experience.

"Austin has worked extremely hard to earn this opportunity," team owner Terry McMillen said. "He came up through the junior ranks and was very competitive at the sportsman level. He's been with our team for three years now. I'm excited to see how he does." (photo courtesy Hoosier Thunder Motorsports) [7/29/2009]

Joyce Julius says Force is still the Force, Ashley is two

According to the Joyce Julius people (they monitor the amount of TV time for sponsors) John Force still rules the NHRA, at least far as sponsor fulfillment goes during this year’s NHRA Full Throttle event broadcasts on ESPN/ESPN2.

Their newsletter states: “Through the first dozen events of 2009, Force leads all competitors in generating a combined $10.9 million of exposure value for the 69 brands monitored in association with him so far this season. And the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as daughter Ashley Force Hood was ranked second with an overall intake of $8.2 million for her sponsors.”  (Ron Lewis photo) [7/29/2009]
