Wowie, Cowie

Shawn Cowie was trying out Mission Raceway Park's new surface in preparation for the upcoming LODRS Div.6 race. His next run was a 5.42 at 266 mph as he got a little out of the groove in the first half of the run, which probably kept him from his 'normal' mid-.30 pace.  (Paul Grant photo) [5/12/2009]

Consistency, thy name is Brown

A supercharged 200-mph dragster might not be best combination to win the Super Pro class on a 45-degree Saturday night, but that is just what Hank Brown did on May 9 at Cordova (Ill.) Dragway Park.

Brown took just three hours to win five rounds with consistent times of 6.94, 6.94, 6.95, 6.95, 6.94, 6.99 and 6.95 to take the Super Pro class win.

The win had meaning more than a trophy and a check as his sponsor from the Truck Country Company was in attendance at the event. In the final Brown defeated Tom Klemme in the Beale-Klemme dragster.  (photo courtesy Cordova Dragway Park) [5/12/2009]
