The six-race DRO Nostalgia Race series at four Midwest tracks has finalized its rules, payout and purses for the Series.
The rules will basically follow established NHRA and VRA rules. NHRA and VRA safety rules will be strictly enforced. As for the rules pertaining to superchargers, fuel delivery and ignition the rules for the series will be 8-71 or 6-71 supercharger for 2009 with a 6-71 supercharger mandatory in 2010. All cars are restricted to a single fuel pump (Hilborn, Enderle, Waterman or Settles) with no overdrive. A single points-type magneto is mandatory.
Note: The Goodguys have stated in print that at their two series races (Indy and Bowling Green, KY) they will adhere to VRA rules and they have their own in-house tech department. If Goodguys choose to adhere to the letter of the VRA rules (21 gallon fuel pump, 18% supercharger overdrive) that is their option.
For the record, all of the race promoter and Jeff Burk have agreed to this solution.
Purses:
The Nostalgia Drags races at Kansas City and St. Louis will have a minimum purse of $12,500. All races will have two qualifying sessions available with only one qualifying lap mandatory. All except the World Series at Cordova are three-day events; Cordova is a Friday and Saturday event.
