Stripping ‘The Strip’ After the Las Vegas NHRA national event, jack of all trades Jeff Foster, the same guy who sets up and repairs drag strip timing systems all over the country, was ripping up the vinyl graphics you saw on the ESPN2 TV show over the weekend. On Monday, PastTime, the Speed TV show was taking over the racetrack for a series of shows for the new season in Spring 2010. Earl Nichols Jr. of Wilmington, Delaware, driving his Goldman Autorace Specialties (G.A.S.)-prepared 1978 Corvette was crowned the Mid-Atlantic Super Gas Association’s 2009 Champion after the final two races at Cecil County Dragway were washed out. Nichols parlayed two wins, one at Atco and the other at Cecil County along with a runner-up at Numidia Dragway into the Championship.
“The Cremator” ended his outstanding season with 395 points, 43 ahead of second place MASGA series rookie Delaney Richardson. Richardson claimed victory at the season opener at Maple Grove Raceway and stayed consistent throughout the year to claim the runner-up spot in his first campaign.
The rest of the top five consists of Iggie Boicesco, Lance Kreiger and George Smith.
