Another one bites the dust!

The Agent learned today that NHRA Top Fuel team owner Dexter Tuttle has apparently opted to park his team for the rest of the 2008 season. It has long been rumored that the Vis Viva sponsorship hasn’t delivered. This week several of the team’s crewmen got their final check. Nothing is known about the future of the Vis Viva sponsorship or the future of the Dexter Tuttle operation, which in the past had run limited schedules and was basically funded by owner Dexter Tuttle.  (James Drew photo) [10/8/2008]

Bartone done with Dunn?

Rumor has it that Tony Bartone is stepping away from the sport at the end of this season. Bartone was a dominant force in the Alky Funny Car ranks and did win an NHRA fuel coupe title this year, so it might make sense that he would take some time off from the racing grind. Agent 1320 hears that Big Jim Dunn has let it be known that the ride in his Funny Car is available but, as it almost always has been, whoever gets the ride will have to bring money and or sponsorship.
