Top Fuelers added to nostalgia event at KCIR

The Muscle Car Reunion and Nostalgia Drags event scheduled for this weekend (Oct 3-5) at historic KCIR located just East of downtown Kansas City on Noland Road will now feature both five-second, 250-mph AA Funny Cars and Dragsters.

Promoter John Troxel recently contracted with Iowa AA/FD team owners Kevin Brewer and Dan Russell, whose two dragsters will have an old fashioned two-out-of-three match race.

This will be in addition to the DRO-sponsored AA/FC program including the last AHRA AA/FC World Champ, Doc Halladay.The floppers will run a Chicago-style race,where everyone will make two laps and the quickest two cars come back for a third race to determine the AA/FC Champion.

More than 300 nostalgia race cars are expected to attend as well as an big contingency of show cars.

In addition drag racing hall of famers Don Garlits and Roland Leong will be on hand to sign autographs and bench race with their fans. [9/29/2008]
