FARBER TO DRIVE FOR INJURED LANDIS
Next Generation Race Team driver George Landis suffered an accident in his shop, SRC Racing, and won’t be driving the Pro Mod Stratus for a few weeks. As he was installing an exhaust system, the H-pipe slipped and came down across his lower leg, completely severing the muscle right above the Achilles tendon. After 6-7 weeks of complete immobilization of the foot Landis's surgeon expects a complete recovery.
"In the meantime, I've been rolling around in my wheelchair with a laptop doing engine tuning," said Landis.
The Florida-based team plan to take their Dodge Stratus to the July 17-20 NMCA event in Joliet, IL. Peter Farber of Worcester, Mass., has been named replacement driver, as Landis recovers and completes physical therapy. "Peter is a friendly competitor of ours in Pro Street, whom we respect a great deal," said team owner Steve Quint. "Peter is awaiting delivery of a new car, and we thought he would be the ideal choice to drive for us at the Joliet event.”
Farber will join the team for a test session next week in Epping, NH. Quint reports their 526 c.i. blown Hemi built by crew chief Billy Leverentz of Oddy's Automotive is producing 300-400 more horsepower than last year's combination. [7/7/2008]
FIRST TURBO IN THE THREE-SECOND RANGE

Andy Jensen drove his Tim McAmis-built Camaro to a 3.9972 ET during Pro Nitrous qualifying at the just completed ADRL event in Virginia, which makes it the quickest turbocharged car on the eighth-mile in history. His speed was 184.65.
Jensen told the Agent that the car was set up for the quarter mile so he didn’t even get the five-speed-equipped car into high gear on that pass. Although the class is called Pro Nitrous, ADRL rules allow turbocharged cars to compete. Jensen’s single 427-inch small-block Chevy was built in his own engine shop in northeastern Pennsylvania. He was coy about the actual weight of the car but the Agent will make a stab and guess that a bare-bones car like his with an all-aluminum small block could weigh in at just over 2,000 lbs wet.
Look for a feature on this car in a future issue of DRO. Congrats to the Jensen crew from the Agent for their barrier-busting performance. (car photo by Rod short / engine photo by Jeff Burk) [7/7/2008]
