WYATT EXITS IHRA FUNNY CAR TOUR AFTER BUDDS CREEK

Veteran Fuel Funny car privateer Jack Wyatt called the Agent to say that after next weekend’s IHRA event in Budds Creek, Maryland, he would go off of the IHRA tour. He cited the increasing cost of nitro, diesel fuel, and the fact that many of the associate sponsors he has had over the years have been hurt by the economy and can no longer support his team.

“Even if I were to win the race at Budds Creek I’m definitely not going to the race in Edmonton (Western Canada). I’ve signed a contract to race at Eddyville, Iowa, that weekend in a match race and I’ll honor that contract.” Wyatt added, “I’d love to keep racing on the IHRA circuit but the cost, especially the cost to go Canada, is too much. Even with the guaranteed first round money I can’t afford to go.”

The Agent is afraid that Wyatt won’t be the first low-budget racer to have to cut back as the season goes on.  (Joe McHugh photo) [6/6/2008]

PMRA HEADS FOR LEICESTER

There will be past champions, series rookies, and the return of some regular teams when the Pro Modified Racing Association heads to Leicester, NY, this Saturday for the First Annual PMRA Challenge. This is the first time the teams have raced at this Western New York track.

Over a dozen of the Pro Modifieds will be on hand to do battle for the second round of the 2008 PMRA tour, including the Camaro of Mike Stawicki (shown).  (Todd Dziadosz photo) [6/6/2008]
