REAL WHEELS OF FIRE

Every once in a while we get some photos that although are not really news but are just too cool not to run. These two shots from Racing Net Source Senior photographer Ron Lewis are a perfect example of that.  (Ron Lewis photos) [6/3/2008]

MOVE OVER SARGE, HERE COMES THE CAPTAIN

Chris Bennett made his licensing runs in the “Pure Heaven IV” AA/FC last weekend.

“Famous Amos” Satterlee tuned the car to laps of 6.25/212, 6.19/228 and 6.11/229. Bennett, who raced with the California Independent Funny Car Association last year, is an Air Force Captain and is already looking for that 5-second e.t.  (Darr Hawthorne photo) [6/3/2008]

NITRO SUPPLY TIGHT IN EUROPE

As the racing action in Europe is getting under way, we got an update from Tog at eurodragster.com. He asked the main European nitromethane distributors how the supply looks for the remainder of the season and got replies from G-Max Chemical and Research and VP Racing Fuels. VP said they had already fulfilled their European orders and would not have any more available. They suggested racers contact G-Max for European supplies.

Antony Billinton of G-Max told eurodragster, “The current situation with this product is of significant importance. The world demand for Nitromethane has overtaken supply considerably, the reasons for which are complex but certain factors such as the recent production restrictions at source of manufacture and the now total cessation of some but not all plants' production in the Far East have contributed to this.”

Billinton added, “The recovery process we feel is likely to be a partial and a fairly lengthy one given the current climate. Even when the equilibrium of supply and demand is again reached the long term financial impact on costs for this product means world markets are unlikely to revert back to previous levels.”

In other words, if you can get it, expect to pay more. For the complete story go to http://www.eurodragster.com/news/news.asp?Story=june03#june03 [6/3/2008]
