NITRO ON THE WATER
A Memorial Day weekend tradition continues as the Lucas Oil IHBA drag boat racers invade Red Bluff, CA, for the 33rd annual Nitro Nationals. The festivities kick off on Friday evening with the Palamino Room "Streets of Fire" party on Main Street. The event is FREE to the public and Nitro will be in the air as the Top Fuel Hydros fire at dusk. Saturday kicks off with two qualifying sessions.
Top Fuel entries include World Champion John Haas in Lou Osmon's "Speed Sports Special", Eddie Knox's Centurion Boats "Problem Child", points leader Jarret Silvey in Dennis Gibson's "Hot Licks", and Glen Wilson in the re-worked "Toxic Rocket" (shown).
The Top Alcohol Hydro field will be a war and Mike Fry's "Mean Streak II" (shown) will battle World Champion Kent Price as well as over a half dozen others. Get up early because Sunday's final eliminations begin at 8 AM, with first round of Top Fuel at 10:30. Results next week. (James Drew photos) [5/23/2008]
JOHN FORCE ON CNN HEADLINE NEWS
A CNN special produced by Ray D’Alessio that focuses specifically on John Force’s comeback from career-threatening injuries will air this weekend on CNN Headline News. The piece, developed from an interview last month in Atlanta before the Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals in which Force was runner-up to his daughter, Ashley, will air twice an hour between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., Eastern time, on Sunday, May 25.
