HARVICK TO BE JEGS SPOKESMAN

Evidently, while talking with Bob Vandergriff Jr. about starting a drag racing team last weekend at Las Vegas, NASCAR superstar Kevin Harvick finalized a gig for himself. The announcement comes today that Harvick will banner high-performance auto parts giant JEGS Mail Order through a personal services contract that begins immediately. Harvick will feature the JEGS.com logo and toll-free number on the racing helmets he uses on the NASCAR, Nationwide, and Craftsman Truck series.

"JEGS is a great company and we need to make JEGS.com the place for NASCAR fans to go whenever they need high-performance parts," Harvick said. "The Coughlin brothers got involved with NASCAR through the contingency program last year and they have big billboards at most of the tracks. I think this new deal is just a natural progression for their involvement with our sport.”

"We think this is a great way for JEGS to get exposure in the top three sanctioning bodies NASCAR offers," said John Coughlin, one of four brothers that run JEGS Mail Order. "Any time Kevin climbs behind the wheel of one of his racecars he gets a lot of attention and now JEGS will be along for the ride right there on his visor. It's exciting to have a driver of his talent as part of Team JEGS.”  (photo courtesy JEGS) [4/15/2008]

LAST RACE FOR CANNONS UNLESS THEY FIND A SPONSOR

Scotty and Scott Cannon find themselves still without sponsorship. Nevertheless the team is getting ready to compete at the IHRA Spring Nationals in Rockingham, NC, this weekend.

“We already have our cars ready and since Rockingham is so close to home we will still run this race,” Scotty Cannon said. “But you can bet your bottom dollar that after this event we will be parked until a new marketing partner is found or until TORCO Race Fuels resumes its sponsorship with our team.”

At this point in the season Scotty Cannon Racing is considering all options. “While we hope to secure a marketing partner to run both cars, my son and I are also available to drive or crew chief another team that is looking to win a championship—whether it is in the IHRA, NHRA, ADRL or any sanctioning body for that matter,” Cannon said.

The Agent thinks it would be a shame for a Pro Mod champ and one of the most colorful characters in drag racing to be unable to compete. Unfortunately, the TORCO sponsorship loss continues to affect many racers. Contact joelcampbell@bellsouth.net. (DRO file photo) [4/15/2008]
