BrakeSafe might rescue the NHRA Pro Mod series

Agent 1320 has learned that there was a teleconference yesterday between many of the current NHRA Pro Mod team owners, Rich Battaglini, owner of BrakeSafe, and Mathew Brammer. Interestingly no one from the JEGS organization was contacted or participated according to Scott Woodruff of JEGS. DRO received no advance notice of this meeting.
Currently BrakeSafe will be the major sponsor of the Matt Hagan-driven Nitro Funny Car that will run out of the Don Schumacher camp.

According to the Agent’s source, Mr. Battaglini has a serious interest in funding the series. If it were to keep the same pay schedule to the racers and the NHRA it had in 2008 it would probably require in excess of $600,000 to fund. If the deal goes through, in all probability Brammer would be the administrator of the series should the team owners and Mr. Battaglini be able to raise the required financial support and get a new contract with the NHRA for the 2009 season.

The JEGS group verified that they have asked the NHRA to release them from the contract they had negotiated and NHRA had released them. More info on this story as the Agent gets it. [12/9/2008]

All ‘tooned up with DeGrandis & Burk

The better to see us with, my dear

No, you aren’t having a small stroke nor do you need new glasses. The page size of DRO is changing beginning with this issue. The new design means bigger pages, bigger photos and (for our aging eyeballs) bigger type. Art Director Matt Schramel and his staff of Marissa Gaither and Clifford Tunnell have been working on the new design, and we thank them for their hard work.

We hope you like the look. It’s all for your reading pleasure, dear readers. Let us know what you think at response@dragracingonline.com. [12/9/2008]

He and director of sales, Darr Hawthorne, will be at the PRI Show through Sunday and will be available at the show. [12/9/2008]
