Densham makes fastest FC run in Australian History

Gary Densham kicked off round one of the ENZED International Nightfire New Year Series by running Australia’s quickest and fastest ever Nitro Funny Car pass when he crossed the Willowbank quarter mile in 4.86 seconds at 309.7mph (approx 495.52kph).

The result is the first Nitro Funny Car four-second pass to be run not only in Australia but also outside of North America, and also tops the speed ladder as the first pass in Australia by a Nitro Funny Car to come in at over 300 miles per hour.

The 62-year-old Californian smashed the Willowbank Raceway track record that he set 13 years ago in December of 1995 of 5.63/259.37mph (approx 414.99kph).  (file photo by Ron Lewis) [01/02/09]
