It’s a real grind at Texas Raceway

Now that the racing season is over, the management at Texas Raceway has called in the Penhall folks to grind down the track surface. Looking good for next year. (photos courtesy Texas Raceway) [12/1/2008]

The holiday season is right around the corner and it’s time for the 11th annual John Force Holiday Car Show. Started in 1997 the Holiday Car Show has gotten bigger and better every year. The car show will continue to benefit California Highway Patrol’s “CHiP’s for Kids” Toy Drive.
Last year John Force Racing received over 8,000 unwrapped toys and this year JFR’s goal is to equal that number this year and maybe even reach 10,000 toys.
The Holiday Car Show is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the John Force RaceStation store right beside the JFR shop in Yorba Linda, Calif. To get in for free bring a new $10 unwrapped toy. There will be tours of the race shop and museum all day. Fans will be able to see thousands of John Force’s personal collectibles, trophies, and race cars.
It’s a car show so there will be hundreds of street rods, muscle cars, antiques, classics, motorcycles, trucks, boats and most importantly race cars.
The featured vehicles will include Ashley Force’s Pink Rookie of the Year Ford Mustang Funny Car, Jay Leno’s ‘Jet Cadillac,’ Chip Foose’s ‘HemisFear,’ 1934 Dodge “Crazy Junk” Truck, a very rare – Play Car (only 97 were produced!), and Barbie’s ‘Pink Hummer,’
Enthusiasts can also participate. If you have a great looking hot rod register at: www.JohnForce.com/HolidayCarShowREGISTRATION
All the JFR drivers will be there signing autographs on the celebrity stage including John, Ashley, Brittany, and Courtney Force. Funny Car drivers Robert Hight and Mike Neff will also be more than happy to give fans an autograph or pose for a picture. In addition to the drivers Tom “Mongoose” McEwen, car designer Chip Foose, ESPN’s “Queen of Cars” Genevieve Chappell and country singer Peter Brandon. [12/1/2008]
Car junkie? Need your fix?
CarJunkieTV.com is no more, but David Freiburger has started his own web site, FreiburgersJunkyard.com.
The hot rod forums live on and Chad Reynolds and Brian Lohnes are also there cranking out the content. [12/1/2008]
