Alan Johnson Al-Anabi T/F driver?

Agent 1320’s sources say that it is a done deal that Alan Johnson will wheel the Al Anabi Top Fueler next year and that Jason McCulloch will be the crew chief on the car. The Agent has been hearing this rumor for about two weeks and, frankly, dismissed them, figuring that Johnson was too valuable as a tuner/engineer/business owner to get into a Top Fuel car.

But the Agent’s sources insist that Johnson will give the idea a shot as long as the track distance at NHRA national events remains at 1,000 feet. Supposedly the official announcement will come right after the Army team and Tony Schumacher clinch the 2008 NHRA Top Fuel Championship. (Ron Lewis photo) [10/16/2008]

Bob and Bill Glidden to race ten-wide at Vegas

Yes, you heard it right. Bob Glidden will return to the seat of PGA tour golfer Kenny Perry's Grand Am and compete in the  Outlaw 10.5 class at  the PSCA Street Car Supernationals IV at The Strip at Las Vegas. So we could see the first All-Glidden Outlaw 10.5 finals at that race.
Bob will be driving Kenny Perry’s Pontiac Grand-Am powered by a "Glidden Racing Engines" small block Ford. Bill Glidden will have basically the same combination in his late model GTO.

Last year the PSCA event hosted the quickest 32-car Pro Street field in heads-up racing history. Lee Frank and his nitrous Corvette qualified #1 with a 6.255/219.28 while the 32nd place car of Dal Sangha needed a 6.866 just to make the show. The Street Car Supernationals is scheduled for the weekend of Nov 20-23. DRO has scheduled live coverage of that event. [10/16/2008]
