‘KING’ OF THE STREET

Here’s a look at J.D. St. Cyr and Ethan Holley squaring off at the 4th annual Kingman, Arizona, street drags. St. Cyr says, “The reason you see one of my crew guys (Floyd) doing his version of “Pinks” is, when we did our burnouts, the noise and exhaust from our cars knocked out the lights!” [9/24/2007]

‘STANMAN’ TAKES NORCAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Greg Stanley from Brentwood, CA, won the NorCal Top Comp Association
Championship last weekend with his 409 c.i. Chevy small block-powered dragster in two days of racing at Famoso Raceway. In Saturday’s final round Stanley ran a 7.726 on a 7.70 dial-in defeating Kurt Carlson, who broke out. Then on Sunday “Stanman” broke out and runner-upped to Dean Turner’s ’84 Pontiac Fiero.

Starting in 2008 NorCal Top Comp will become the NorCal Top Dragster Series with no change in the racing format and the series will still be open to all vehicles capable of running 8.19 or quicker. (Darr Hawthorne photo) [9/24/2007]
