KUDO’S FOR EAVES AND PERSONETT
The Agent just wanted to give a couple of the racers that competed at the ADRL’s Dragstock IV a little extra recognition that they so richly deserve. The first is the world’s quickest and fastest insurance salesman, nitro racer Mel Eaves. Eaves became the first ADRL Pro Extreme racer to make a sub-four-second lap in the eighth-mile. No doubt that Bill Kuhlmann ran the eighth in less than four seconds when he was racing his Super Chevy Nitro Coupe on the quarter-mile but Eaves is ADRL’s first nitro car in the threes, running a personal best 3.99 at Dragstock.
Also a tip of the Agent’s Fedora to Brad Personett, who became the first to win a ten-wide event with a six-cylinder-powered race car and as far as we know the first Sport Compact (Scion) to win a ten-wide race. (Ian Tocher photos) [9/21/2007]
