On Oct. 13-14, for the first time in its history, the Diesel Hot Rod Association will decide its DieselPower! Additives Drag Racing national champions in a playoff-style format at the Texas Diesel Nationals at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas.

The Texas Diesel Nationals will feature the champion and runner-up from the DHRA’s East and West Coast series in a two-race run-off to decide the national champion for 2007 in three classes: AirWerks Pro Street, Valvoline Blue Quick Diesel and Flowmaster ET Bracket. The East Coast champion in each class will face the West Coast runner-up in each class in one semifinal, with the West Coast champion and East Coast champion squaring off in the other semi-final. The winners of each semi will then race for the title in each class.

After the national champions are decided, the participants in the championship event will then race in the DHRA Texas Diesel Nationals. [9/20/2000]

CHARLOTTE DRAGSTRIP CONSTRUCTION GOING FULL BLAST

There has been some speculation that the Bruton Smith organization may not get the new dragstrip in Charlotte, NC, done in time for the 2008 NHRA schedule. The Agent’s take on that is that evidently people have forgotten Mr. Smith and his organization’s track record. The Agent sent one of his operatives to take a look at the progress and he reports that they are basically working on the project around the clock (and got started way before the announcement was made according to Charlotte observers). The Agent is making hotel reservations in Charlotte for the Sept. 11-14 TBA date on the NHRA schedule and recommends that readers do the same. [9/20/2000]
