RAY ALLEY RUMOR SURFACES

A rumor called in to the Agent 1320 headquarters has Ray Alley being mentioned as replacing Dan Olson, who replaced Alley when he left NHRA to work for Kenny Bernstein’s return to racing. Evidently Alley is actively seeking a job, the fishing in Cabo sucks, or Ray got tired of Hurricanes already. [9/10/2007]

WHAT A VIEW

Phase two of Gainesville Raceway’s multi-million-dollar, multi-phase renovation project is underway with a new, state-of-the-art media center and 360-degree race control center on the top floor. It should be ready next March for the 39th annual ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals. Newly installed luxury suites were already finished for this year’s Gators, as were permanent grandstands on the spectator side of the track, as part of the multi-phase project that will eventually overhaul and update the entire track.

According to Tom Compton at the recent U.S. Nationals, the sale to HD Partners Acquisition Corp. has received the necessary signatures from both sides in the $121 million deal to sell off the Professional Assets and select racetracks, and the sale has been submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for Governmental approvals.

The Agent has to ask if this phase of the overhaul are a condition of the pending sale to HD Acquisition Partners Corporation and is the old NHRA paying or being reimbursed by the new for-profit NHRA for this phase? The Gainesville racetrack will end up as part of the assets of HD Partners after the sale is completed, along with the Indianapolis Raceway Park, the Pomona, Columbus and Atlanta tracks. The last time the Agent had a real property in escrow it wasn’t possible to start new construction projects while a sale was pending. (photo courtesy NHRA) [9/10/2007]

PRO MODS RETURN TO NHRA IN 08 WITH TV DEAL!?

Agent 1320 has heard from multiple sources that a current Pro Mod car owner will step to the plate and bring with him the funding to make sure that NHRA fans will be able to see Pro Mods next year. The sources also say that this new benefactor will bring the funding necessary to return the Pro Mods to ESPN2 with a half-hour stand alone program. Does this signal the end of AMS’s Dave Wood’s participation in the NHRA Pro Mod program? [9/10/2007]
