WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM?
And speaking of that 24th event added to the ’08 schedule, many team owners at Indy were wondering where the money to pay for it will come from. Many have multi-year contracts with their sponsors with a fixed amount of dollars for 23 national events. Will they now have to go back to their sponsors and ask them to cough up more money for that extra event or will the teams have to stretch their budgets even further to accommodate one more road trip? Does NHRA consult with team owners before they make these decisions? [9/4/2007]
SYDNEY A ‘DUNN’ DEAL?
Australia’s Western Sydney International Dragway confirms that it has been talking to the NHRA about a round Down Under in 2008. On NHRA 2day Mike Dunn offered a possibility of running in Sydney next year, as he did last year, seen here. With ACDelco already a sponsor at WSID, could a deal be in the works?
