RACER, THE NEXT GENERATION

Lucas Oil marketing whiz Tom Bogner sent us a photo of son Zac’s new Junior Dragster on its maiden lap. The Agent figured that since Lucas Oil sponsors about 200 racers and race teams, running a photo of Zac’s Lucas Oil-backed ride was appropriate. (James Drew Photo) [06/15/07]
ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND OFF
This Father’s Day weekend is the last free time any of the NHRA pros will have before they start six consecutive weeks of racing. Will the stress get to cars, parts and people as they jockey to be in the top eight for the countdown? What happens to this tight schedule if it should (shudder) rain? [06/15/07]
OKAY, YOU OLD AA/GASBAGS!
Oddy’s Automotive, Inc. is presenting the Jim Oddy AA Supercharged Gasser Shootout on Aug. 11-12 at Lancaster (NY) Raceway Park. The $2,000-to-win race will be run under IHRA rules and sponsored by Oddy’s Automotive. The event is open to ‘60s-era Willys, Austins, Anglias, and Henry J’s. We’re looking for a writer/photographer who will be at the event to cover the race for DRO. Contact JeffBurk@dragracingonline.com if you are interested.[06/15/07]
SPORT COMPACT SERIES NOT AN ASSET?
One thing the Agent wasn’t sure of was what part the NHRA’s Sport Compact series would have in the proposed sale of the NHRA’s professional classes of Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock. A call to NHRA got us the information that the “real” (old) NHRA would retain the Xplod Sport Compact series along with the sportsman. [06/15/07]
