DUBAI ON THE LINE FOR MR. MUSI
The Agent noticed a note in National Speed Sport News Editor Chris Economacki’s column in the May 23rd edition making note the that sport of drag racing is continuing to grow in the Middle East. His note said that a new track called the Emirates Motorplex located in the Dubai city of Umm Al Quaywayn is doing quite well and speed shops are everywhere. Didn’t Pro Street/Pro Mod hitter Pat Musi sell his current ride to someone from the United Arab Emirates? [5/30/2007]
JOOSTEN GOES 232+ IN EX-JIM ODDY ‘VETTE AT SANTA POD
The UK's Danny Cockerill recorded the first 230 mph pass by a European racer during Saturday's qualifying at the FIA European Finals at Santa Pod Raceway in England. Cockerill clocked 6.1761/230.73 in his Chevy on only the second pass with his new ERD/Brad Anderson engine. Carl Spiering is at Santa Pod Raceway with Cockerill this weekend.
Two minutes after Cockerill's pass Holland's Robert Joosten (shown) raised the bar with a 232.93 mph blast with his ex-Jim Oddy Corvette which is tuned by Joosten’s engine builder Billy Leverance by phone from Elma, NY, between rounds. Now that is long distance tuning. [5/30/2007]
MORE NOSTALGIA FUNNY CAR NEWS
Kyle Wurtzel emailed the Agent to say that the Indiana racer had made some shakedown passes in his new nitro Nostalgia Funny Car. He neglected to say what body style or powerplant it had.
Finally, a rather cryptic note with a Florida address came over Agent 1320’s desk that simply said: a new nostalgia nitro funny car is being built in south Florida using a swoopy Vega body with KB Hemi power. This one will be a "troublemaker."[5/30/2007]
