RECORDS FALL AT ABBREVIATED ‘MAIN EVENT’
As happened in much of the U.S., the weather was the main winner at the first round of the 2007 European Tour held over this Bank Holiday weekend at Santa Pod Raceway, England. Only a single day of professional class qualifying was possible before the rain rolled in late on Saturday night. Not a single wheel was turned in competition on Sunday and Monday, with the main concern in the pits being how to avoid a drenching, hypothermia (daytime temperatures struggling to exceed 5 deg C), and retaining pit awnings in the face of near gale force winds.
The two qualifying sessions provided an all too brief taste of what might have been.

Anders Jakobsson reset the UEM Pro Stock Bike record at 7.243 onboard his Suzuki when the pre-race bets were on Tom Tinndahl to do the same with Chip Ellis in attendance.

Both ends of the record fell in the Pro Stock Car class, with Michael Malmgren leading the charge to the 6.7 bracket with a 6.803/202.59, but Eero Knihtila topped Malmgren's terminal speed with a 6.856/202.61 mark.
