THIS TIME FOR SURE?

Mother Nature has been bit rough on the ADRL, with weather causing several events to be delayed. Will she now look kindly on Valdosta, Georgia? The Camp Motorsport Georgia Drags at South Georgia Motorsports Park will feature the rain-delayed final rounds from last year's ADRL World Finals, with Joshua Hernandez and Dwayne Watkins (shown) meeting for the Pro Extreme title, and Harold Martin and Terry Housley squaring off to determine the Pro Nitrous champion. Those two final-round showdowns will be part of third-round professional-class qualifying on Saturday, May 5.

The Georgia Drags will be the fourth ADRL event held at SGMP, the most for any track since the league got its start in late 2004. This year's event, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, is the third of eight on the 2007 ADRL schedule (including April's rain-delayed Montgomery event).

All four of the ADRL's professional classes will be featured, which begin with open testing for all entries from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. (local time) on Friday. A single round of qualifying will follow on Friday night, leading into a typically busy Saturday on the ADRL circuit: two more rounds of qualifying (noon and 2 p.m.) and eliminations in all four classes (beginning at 7 p.m.).

Mike Bell (Pro Extreme), Charles Carpenter (Pro Nitrous), and Rodney
Rosenstiel (Extreme 10.5), the event winners at the 2007 season-opening event in March, are the ADRL's points leaders heading into the Georgia Drags; the Pro Extreme Motorcycle class has not yet completed an event. Once the make-up races from the World Finals are completed, drivers will be awarded points from that event, as well, making this weekend's Georgia Drags a potential points-scoring bonanza for a number of competitors.  (Bret Kepner photo)[5/2/2007]

NORTHROP DNQS, BUT STILL WINS

In the debut of his new 2006 GTO at the recently completed NHRA race at Atlanta, Pro Stock racer Dave Northrop managed a best time of 6.736 seconds at 205.60 mph that was good enough only for 24th place of 28 entries. Northrop didn't go home empty-handed to Perkasie, PA, however, as his new ISC Racer's Tape-backed ride was named Best Appearing Car at the 27th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals.
