HERNANDEZ THREE-PEATS AT HOUSTON
Pro Mod racer and Conroe, TX, resident, Josh Hernandez, made it two in a row for 2007 and a three-peat in Houston as he won the O’Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park and the coveted AMS eagle, defeating Scott Cannon, Jr. in a peddle-fest final round under the lights, 6.208/225.26 to 6.227/233.72. We’ll have complete coverage of the Houston event tomorrow. (Ron Lewis photo) [4/2/2007]
1 + 1 = 1 FOR CAPPS
It’s been done before, but with Ron Capps’ emotional Houston Funny Car victory he moved into the NHRA POWERade Championship Points lead over Tony Pedregon with two wins in a row.

Capps also leads the Nostalgia Funny Car Association's Championship Drag Racing Series points over Dennis LaCharite going into the Nostalgia Nitro Shootout April 21 at Fontana's AAA California Dragway. (Zak Hawthorne photo)[4/2/2007]
FEELING THE VEGAS HEAT

Craig Michael drove his new “Vegas Heat” nostalgia nitro funny car in testing during the Mopars at the Strip event over the weekend. Michael tested the ‘70 Plymouth Satellite-bodied flopper to three half-track passes with tuning help from “Wingman” Stephen Knight and Roger Williams without hurting any parts. Michael took six years off of drag racing after running a number of fuel altereds over the years, and he’ll be upgrading his license to compete in the Nostalgia Funny Car Association series.
