IF IT’S A-B VERSUS COCA-COLA, WHO WINS?

Reading the financial pages this morning, the Agent noticed that Anheuser-Busch Cos. have expanded their distribution of Hansen Natural Corp.’s products to bars, restaurants and nightclubs from an earlier agreement that covered retailers and liquor stores. The beer maker began distributing Hansen drinks including Monster, Lost and Unbound to retailers in mid-2006.

Then the Agent received an email citing a Wikipedia posting that says that in 2005 Coca-Cola Enterprises began distributing Rockstar Energy drink products within the U.S. and Canada, except the Northwest and Northern California.

With Coca-Cola’s POWERade brand the title sponsor of NHRA pro drag racing and A-B’s Budweiser and Monster sponsoring the two Bernstein cars, where does that leave the possible return of Jerry Toliver with a Rockstar sponsor? [2/14/2007]

MARX MAKES HIS MARK

Ed Marx from Bakersfield, CA, took his "brand new" Corvette Pro Mod to test at the Las Vegas PSCA event. He got a best of 6:24 at 228.85 mph on his fifth pass. A former PSCA racer, and TAFC owner/driver, this looks like his strong suit finally – Marx made six passes for the weekend and NO hurt parts. (Rich Carlson photo) [2/14/2007]

TORCO BECOMES JOLIET TITLE-RIGHTS SPONSOR

Evan Knoll’s Torco Racing Fuels will be the sponsor for the NHRA national event to be held June 7-10 at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL.  Seems a good choice, as the northern Illinois event is only one state away from Knoll’s Decatur, Michigan-based company. [2/14/2007]
