THE SAME, BUT SMALLER

On May 4-6 Rockingham Dragway will host the 1st Annual IMDRA Spring Nationals, an event showcasing the talent and speed of Radio Controlled Drag racers from across the US and Puerto Rico. Classes included will be both Nitro and Electric versions of the Top Fuel rails and Funny Cars, Pro Mods, Pro Stocks, Extreme and bracket classes. This event will be one of a 3 race national series that includes North Carolina, Texas and California.

Radio Controlled drag racing is becoming one of the fastest growing forms of R/C sports. With smaller 1/10th versions of their full sized counter parts running on a 1/10th scale quarter mile, 132ft., resulting in actual times of less than 1.6 seconds and speeds in excess of 100mph.

Rules are specific to each class, however any type of R/C vehicle is welcome to race. Bracket class only has one rule: you must be able to change the radio frequency in the vehicle. For more information on R/C drag racing and the rules check out www.imdra.com or www.rcdrags.com.[2/8/2007]

ZIZZO SPORTS NEW LOOK

The Top Fuel dragster driven by TJ Zizzo will have a new sponsor for the ’07 season. Race News Magazine, a new publication that will cover Formula 1, NASCAR, IHRA and NHRA racing and will premiere in April, has signed with the Lincolnshire, IL-based team.

In 2006 the Zizzo Racing team was low qualifier at two IHRA events and got the event win at Martin, MI. They will start the season at the IHRA Texas Nationals in San Antonio on March 23-25.

“We can chase down the championship for the 2007 season,” Zizzo said. “If we do exactly what we did at the end of last year, we will do very well.”[2/8/2007]
