ROAD TRIP ILLUSTRATED

Earlier the Agent told you about the road trip taken by Sammy Mahan, Bob Mungle and others to take a firetruck and Funny Car from New York to Texas. Alan Miller sent us a photo from the tour during a stop at Mooresville, NC. Although a bit fuzzy, here’s Sammy Mahan and Bob Mungle and the firetruck/transporter. THE STRIP STARTS TESTING FOR PROS AND SPORTSMEN

We received a note from Chris Blair, Las Vegas Motor Speedway Vice President of Racing Operations, who said their Pre-Season Test Session on Jan. 18-20 will be open to any Lucas Oil Sportsman teams or any NHRA E.T. category at a cost of $150 for both car and driver.

The Strip at Las Vegas will also welcome Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Mod, Pro Stock Bike, Pro Street, Outlaw 10.5 and Nitro Nostalgia classes. The cost to test for this group is $300 for car and driver and is valid for entire weekend with no pre-registration necessary.

Sportsman and Nostalgia racers can return to test again the following
weekend on Jan. 26-27 in conjunction with the PSCA Winternationals.

"The biggest change for 2008 is that the event will now be a three-day test session instead of four days," said Blair. "In addition, the event will now start one hour earlier and conclude one hour later each day.”  There is no charge for NHRA Top Fuel dragster and nitro Funny Car teams who pre-register prior to Friday, Jan. 11.
