REUNION RETURNS TO BEECH BEND?

According to numerous sources, the National Hot Rod Reunion will be moving back to quaint Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, KY, from its one-time home at
National Trail Raceway near Columbus, although no one from the Museum will officially confirm the change. As in previous years the 2008 Reunion will take place on Father's Day weekend (June 13-15) and is part of the NHRA Museum's new Hot Rod Heritage Series.
Apparently attendees to the yearly nostalgia event preferred the historic racetrack, and many of the access problems causing the move from Bowling Green have now been resolved.
Honorees for the 2008 event will include drivers Arnie “the Farmer” Beswick, Gabby Bleeker, Jim Walther & Boogie Scott; and racing component pioneer Bob Stange of Strange Engineering. The Grand Marshal will be championship winning driver and tuner Dick LaHaie. (DRO file photo) [11/2/2007]
FULLER COOLS HIS HEELS
Hot Rod Fuller hasn’t warmed up yet at Pomona. He was sitting 15th in Thursday qualifying. The engine on the CAT dragster had problems near the end of the run causing the elapsed time to fall off.
“It was on a good run, we just had a mechanical malfunction,” Fuller said. “It gives us good data for tomorrow. Our teammate (David Baca) made a great run at 4.52 and we would have run a mid-4.50. It’s better to happen today than on Sunday.” (James Drew photo) [11/2/2007]
