At Las Vegas this week Mike Neff, the newest driver at John Force Racing, completed the required runs he needed to earn an NHRA Funny Car license. His paperwork will now be submitted to NHRA for approval.

“Definitely just knowing as much as I do about it, how it all works has been a big advantage,” said Neff, a crew chief who tuned Gary Scelzi to the world championship in 2005. “The challenge is getting used to accelerating that fast, seeing and knowing where we’re at, and getting a grip on that. We made a few runs and everything is slowing down a little bit. I’m feeling better with every run.” [10/19/2007]

WHO WILL BE THE NEXT QUEEN OF DIAMONDS DRIVER?

Al Hanna, President of Hanna Motorsports Jets, is looking for an “intelligent, competitive, aggressive, and driven young woman” with the goal of a career in professional drag racing to become the next driver of the famous BIC Lighter “Queen of Diamonds” 300-MPH Jet Dragster.

“We look at the jet category in as professional a manner as possible,” said Rich Hanna.  “Our goal is to select a young woman with long term goals to succeed in professional drag racing.  We will do all within our means to help her achieve that goal.”

The jet dragster appears at nearly 40 events each year, across the nation, in Canada and Puerto Rico.

Hanna Motorsports fields a three-car team of exhibition jet cars, the BIC Lighter “Queen of Diamonds,” the “Top Secret,” and the “First Strike” Jet Funny Cars.  All are sponsored by BIC Lighter, Simpson Performance Products, BizJet International, and Daigle Truck Masters.
