CANNON, PATRICK LEAD ‘SPRING BLAST’ ENTRANTS

Scott Cannon, son of six-time IHRA World Pro Modified Champion Scotty Cannon, and Robert Patrick, the IHRA national Pro Stock record-holder, are among the drag racers pre-entered for the second annual raceworks.com Spring Blast Feb. 24th at Rockingham (NC) Dragway.
The Saturday race, which will crown champions in Pro Modified, Pro Stock, Top Eliminator, Footbrake, Outlaw Pro Stock Motorcycle and Pro Modified Motorcycle, will follow two days of free Pro Modified and Pro Stock testing. In addition to free testing for the pros, the entry fee has been waived for Top Eliminator and Footbrake racers competing for top prizes of $2,000 and $1,000, respectively.
“If the car gets done, Scotty will have it here,” Rockingham Dragway owner Earwood said. “He said it was 50-50 on whether it’ll get done in time but he’ll be here to watch Scott, regardless.”
Pro Mod and Pro Stock champions will be crowned Saturday using a modified Chicago-style format. The quickest driver from each category in two Saturday qualifying sessions (11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.), will return to race for the raceworks.com Spring Blast championship at 4 p.m. If the same driver is quickest in each session, the other spot will go to the second quickest driver overall.[2/7/2007]
$40,000 GRAND-PRIZE DYNO COMPETITION
The DynoMax performance exhaust folks have put together a chassis dyno series of events that will offer $100 and $50 pre-paid gift cards to first- and second-place winners. The series kicks-off with a competition at Summit Racing Equipment’s retail store in McDonough, GA. The daily first-place event winners will be entered into a national ranking for a chance to compete at the Winner’s Shootout during the 2007 SEMA Show in Las Vegas for the $25,000 grand prize, $10,000 second prize and $5,000 third prize. The only
catch is that entrants must use a DynoMax exhaust system and/or mufflers at the time of the dyno run.
Competitors are required to make two back-to-back dyno runs and are not allowed to make any modifications between pulls. Entrants can choose the best of either pull. The winner is based on peak horsepower from the best of two runs for the complete contest. In the case of a tie, peak torque will be the deciding factor. Entrants who do not have DynoMax products are not eligible for the competition. Competitors can register and get more information by clicking on www.dynomax.com .
