MONOSTRUT, PART DEUX

As Wednesday testing continues at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, the David Powers Motorsports Valvoline Top Fuel Dragster driven by Rod Fuller cranked off a career best pass. According to observers at the scene, Fuller, driving the new monostrut-equipped fueler shut off early with a solid 4.490 at 313 mph.

It looks as though this Mike Kloeber-designed monostrut might just catch on as reports have also surfaced that Snake Racing also did some testing last month on their dragster with a monostrut design in a Canadian GM wind tunnel.[1/31/2007]

GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW HOF
INDUCTS THREE

Goodguys chairman and founder Gary Meadors, So-Cal Speed Shop President Pete Chapouris and metal working genius Marcel DeLay were inducted into the Grand National Roadster Show Hall of Fame during the event’s annual Hall of Fame Luncheon, held Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Fairplex in Pomona. The Grand National Roadster Show, affectionately known as the “Grand Daddy of them All!” celebrated its 58th birthday this year.

The inductees were voted into the GNRS Hall of Fame by its prestigious group of members, chaired by veteran car show promoter Blackie Gejeian. Notable Hall members include Wally Parks, Sam and Chip Foose, George Barris, Tom Medley, Tex Smith, Norm Grabowski and many other industry heroes.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Grand National Roadster Show Hall of Fame,” Meadors said. “I was a regular at the show when it was held in Oakland for so many years. I first entered a car at the 1968 event. The event is a big part of hot rod history – especially out West. John Buck and his staff have really taken the event to new heights at its new home in Pomona. It’s an honor be in this kind of elite company.”  (photo courtesy Goodguys) [1/31/2007]
