WEST COAST HOT ROD ASSN. TO DEBUT
West Coast heads-up door car racers will have a new series to participate in when the WCHRA holds its first event on Feb. 2-4 at Speedworld Raceway Park in Surprise, Ariz. The Mike’s Transmission Snowbird Nationals will be the first of seven events. The rest of the schedule is at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, CA on April 13-15, June 1-2 (tentative), July 13-14 and Aug. 17-18. The series will conclude at Speedworld on Sept. 21-23.
“Over half of the world’s known top ‘Street Legal’ racers are based and race east of the Rio Grande,” said WCHRA series director Don Chavez. “We plan on encouraging them to race in the West through movement towards a standardized set of rules.”

AN ARMY OF 2

Looks like Tony “Sarge” Schumacher isn’t the only dragster driver with an Army connection. Although he may be outranked, SFC Don O’Neal is getting his Army Strong team ready for 2007.
They took delivery of a Race Tech Race Car chassis and are awaiting delivery of a new 565 engine from Nesbitt Race Engines in Graham, NC.
O’Neal will be competing mostly in IHRA Division 2 along with some NHRA events.[1/30/2007]
