TROXEL HONORED BY COLORADO SPORTSWOMEN
Although she now lives in Indiana, Melanie Troxel will be honored as a Sports Winner by the Sportswomen of Colorado’s Hall of Fame. Sportswomen will honor the state’s top female athletes and contributors to women’s athletics at the 33rd awards banquet on March 11 at the Marriott Tech Center in Denver.
And speaking of Melanie, she and husband Tommy Johnson, Jr. will be on hand March 2 at SpeedwayEXPO to sign autographs and meet fans. The Expo will be held at Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA. [1/30/2007]

HIGHT NAMED MARCH MEET GRAND MARSHAL
Robert Hight has been named Grand Marshal of the March Meet when it returns to Auto Club Famoso Raceway on March 9-11. This will be the 49th edition of the March Meet and the first since the Goodguys lost the rights to the name after the death of Jack Williams.
The Agent can’t help but be somewhat bemused by Hight’s choice for the nostalgia drag racing event. Hight is only 36 years old -- the Agent has ties older than that![1/30/2007]
SCEDA SETS ’07 SCHEDULE
The Southern California Drag Racing Association will hold its first of four events on Feb. 3-4 at Auto Club Dragway. Other dates for the Fontana track are July 14-15, Aug. 18-19 and Sept. 15-16. The final event of the SCEDA series will be Nov. 10-11 at Barona 1/8th Mile
Drags in Ramona, CA.
SCEDA has changed some rules this year, including lowering the ET in the Electronics class to 6.50-13.99. For more rules and information go to www.sceda.com.[1/30/2007]
NORTH CAROLINA GOES ALL IHRA
Coastal Plains Dragway has entered into a sanctioning partnership with IHRA. The track, located near Jacksonville, NC, has been under NHRA sanction for the past 31 years. This marks IHRA’s 20th track in the Carolinas. The track’s season-opener is Feb. 10-11.
“This partnership continues our tradition of being the sanctioning body of record in the Carolinas,” said Skooter Peaco, IHRA vice president of racing operations. “With Coastal Plains switching, we are happy to announce that every single sanctioned track in the state of North Carolina now belongs to the IHRA member track family.” [1/30/2007]
