IT’S A GASSER
One of the Agent’s buddies, Lou Hart, sent along the cover of his new photo book "Drag Racing Gassers" due out in 2007. You might remember some of Hart's previous books including "Slingshot Dragsters of the ‘60s" and "Drag Racing Funny Cars of the ‘60s and ‘70s." They're filled with tons of vintage photos of our rich past...and they’re available from the DRO store. The Agent can't wait to get his hands on the new one! [8-7-2006]
‘MEAN 16’ ADDS CONSOLATION RACE
After having 34 cars show up to qualify for the first Mean 16 featuring the Extreme 8 top qualifiers, Motor Mile Dragway track owner David Hagan has
decided to restructure the Mean 16 class. There will be a consolation race for cars that fail to make the 16-car field. The consolation race will only be run if there are a minimum of eight cars for the field.
“It’s not a great deal of money, but it gives the lowest qualifiers an opportunity to compete,” Hagan said. “We feel like if you go to the trouble of coming to our track you should at least get to run a few passes.”
The Radford, VA, track also instituted a rule to prevent drivers from entering both the Extreme 8 and the Mean 16 classes. The next event will be Aug. 12. Go to www.MotorMileDragway.com for complete information. (photo courtesy Motor Mile Dragway) [8-7-2006]
