FONTANA JR DRAGSTERS SET CHARITY EVENT

The next Jr Dragster race at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, CA, will be the Andy Robles Memorial Jr. Dragster Shootout Presented by Lucas Oil Products Inc. Saturday, July 8, will be the big day of the two-day race for the Jr. Dragsters. Robles, who sponsored several Jr. Dragsters along with a lot of Division 7 Sportsman racers in Super Comp and Super Gas, died last February.

There will be a special match race by current Top Fuel pilot Morgan Lucas, who started out in the Jr. Dragster program, in a best 2 out of 3 rounds against his mother, Charlotte Lucas, in a pair of Super Comp dragsters. Scheduled as a fund-raiser on Saturday will be a giant raffle and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds from this race weekend will be donated to the American Diabetes Association in Andy’s name. DRO photographer James Drew will be giving $50 to the Best Appearing Car and $25 to second place. There will be a free dinner for those who pay an entrance fee (spectators and racers) by the Robles family's Rosa Maria’s Mexican Restaurants Saturday night. SCHUMACHER DRIVERS GO MODIFIED DRIVING

On Wednesday, June 21, Don Schumacher Racing Funny Car driver Ron Capps and Gary Scelzi with compete with eight other celebrity drivers in the IMCA Modifieds in the Celebrity

"They put us in dirt modifieds and it's a crazy mess, because you usually get some guys who haven't driven a dirt car before, and it gets to be quite exciting," said Capps. "Right after the celebrity race, the best sprint-car guys in the world race on the half-mile dirt track. And if you've never seen sprint cars on a half-mile track, you've never seen anything. It's almost as crazy as driving a Funny Car."

Other drivers currently scheduled to appear include Cory McClenathan, Doug Kalitta, Jhim Head, Clint Bowyer, Bubba the Love Sponge and Speed Freak's Kenny Sargent." [6-20-2006]

CALLING ALL OUTLAWS

The Agent got a call from George Howard about his Capital City Outlaw Nationals Oct 14-15 at Huntsville (AL) Dragway. "I'm going to break the U.S. down into four divisions," Howard said. "I'll take the lowest e.t. from each division and have a four-car shootout after the final round of qualifying on Saturday night for a $5,000 winner-take-all shootout to see who is the best OUTLAW RACER on that day!"  Howard says they also will have a 32-car shootout on Sunday for $10,000.
