GEOFFRION'S DRIVING STATS

Jim Hawkins, DRO's statistician, put together the numbers for the late Scott Geoffrion's driving career. His win-loss record was 174-135, giving him a 56 percent win percentage. Geoffrion qualified at 144 events. His best NHRA ET was 6.728 and best mph was 204.82, both numbers recorded at Englishtown in 2003. He qualified No. 1 at 19 events, won nine events and runner-upped at 19. Of special interest, one of Geoffrion's best winning percentages was a 13-4 record against Bob Glidden!  [5-10-2006]

MILAN DRAGWAY GOES HEADS-UP RACING

A reader emailed the Agent about a Milan (MI) Dragway program that’s right up the Agent’s alley. It is a run-what-ya-brung, heads-up program run on the first Friday of every month. According to the reader they’ve got an unlimited doorslammer class that gets both Pro Mod and Pro Stock cars, including Pro Mod racer Harold Martin, who recently ran a 6.36/214!

Other classes include all-motor, drag radial, and a 10.5 Outlaw class where low 7's are required to be competitive. Sounds like the first Friday of the month at Milan Dragway is worth the $12 admission price. [5-10-2006]

PROJECT MUSCRATE UPDATE

DRO engine tech guy Jay Roeder got Project Muscrate (right) out of the stall for the Kentucky Derby weekend and rode over to Iowa’s Cedar Falls Raceway for a Heartland Stock/Super Stock Association race. The Mustang maven was back to doing REALLY big wheelies and somehow even managed to get to the semi-finals. The ‘Stang was I/CM and ran a string 11.28's on the way to the semi-finals, where he lost to a CHEVY!

Roeder promises to have a new Project Muscrate installment to the magazine in the next few days. He will also be going to the IHRA Div.5 race at CFR on May 20-21 if you want to drop by and visit. [5-10-2006]

SNOW’S OUTLAW CADDY DOORSLAMMER GETTING CLOSER

One of Agent 1320’s Texas buddies called to say that Gene Snow’s rumored Cadillac coupe Outlaw car should be done in November. The Agent hears that Snow and legendary nitro doorslammer racer Bill Kuhlmann have been exchanging information about nitro tune-ups for doorcars, with which Mr. Snow also has some experience. Perhaps Kuhlmann will end his performance slump at the ADRL race May 19-20 in Memphis. [5-10-2006]

NO NEW NOSTALGIA, YET

The newly formed Nostalgia Pro Comp Association will have to wait a bit to make its first racing headline. Their first event, slated for last weekend at Indianapolis Raceway Park, was rained out. The new group's second scheduled event is a go however. Racers and fans can return to IRP on July 22-23 for a look at what might be the future of nostalgia drag racing in the Midwest.

Troy Coker, one of the NPCA spokesmen, said there were twenty cars in line at the pit gate, despite the bad weather, with entries from as far away as Minnesota. All surveyed said they would be back at IRP in July. For more info on the NPCA, log on to www.nostalgiaprocomp.com  [5-10-2006]
