A NEW HEMI COMING FOR TUTTEROW

The Agent 1320 hears that Outlaw doorslammer hitter Todd Tutterow has ordered a Brad Anderson 526 Hemi for his ’41 Willys and will put the PSI he currently runs on his blown small block Ford engine on the Brad. Can you say 200 mph in the eighth mile?  [5-8-2006]

Jason Wood, son of CSR Performance Products owners Roland and Kim Wood, debuted this brand-new '68 Camaro at the NHRA Top Sportsman Dart Dash May 5-6, at AtlantaDragway. And when we say brand new, we mean brand new. Chassis builder Garret Livingston arrived at Wood's shop in Live Oak, FL, to help finish it up on Tuesday before the race and that afternoon they made a stop at South Georgia Motorsports Park, near Valdosta, GA, for a quick shakedown session.

Powered by a 632 c.i. Chevy built by Scott Duggins at PAR Racing Engines, the car went 7.30 straight out of the box, then 7.23 to back it up. Satisfied they were ready to compete, Livingston and the Woods arrived at the Atlanta strip on Wednesday and qualified 18th of 28 entries with a 7.236 at 188.62 mph. They won their first-round pairing against Keith Raftery, but fell to the '55 Chevy of New Yorker Scott Cozzali in round two. (Ian Tocher photo)  [5-8-2006]

INTRODUCING HEATHER WILLIAMS

At the recent NHRA national event at Atlanta Dragway, the Agent had the distinct pleasure of meeting Heather Williams, new nostalgia Funny Car driver for Top Fuel team owner Virgil Hartman. Williams, a veteran motocross rider, triathlete, and X-Games competitor, also works as a real estate agent in Atlanta. John Smith, Hartman's son-in-law and a Top Fuel driver himself, said Williams made a few burnouts in the 1979 Camaro-bodied flopper a couple of weeks ago and was scheduled for more practice hops on Monday while several of the NHRA touring pros were testing at the north-Georgia strip. Smith said Hartman, who currently has three nostalgia cars prepared, plans to add a fourth and go match racing with them. (Ian Tocher photo)  [5-8-2006]
