With very cold stiff winds accompanied by steadily pouring rain on Saturday morning, April 22, and an only marginally improved weather forecast for Sunday, National Street Car Association President Tony DePillo made the decision to cancel the first InauguralPrecision Turbo NSCA Nationals at Atco Raceway in Atco, New Jersey.

The next event on the 2006 CORTECO NSCA National Event Schedule is May 20-21 at Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, Maryland. [4-26-2006]

THE 'LONER' MOVIE

DRO's Darr Hawthorne has recently been contacted by a writer who's finished a motion picture screenplay on the life and racing career of the late Tony Nancy who passed away in 2004. The screenwriter is searching for the current owners of Tony's last front-motored dragster and any other of his sanitary collection of cars, from his famed 22 Jr. to the rear-engined Wedge.

If you have any information send it on to hawthorne@dragracingonline.com and we'll pass it along to the proper people. [4-26-2006]

LOOKING FOR 'NORTHWIND' PARTS

Jim Rockstad let the Agent know that he and a group of veteran racers in the Northwest have found the original "Northwind Magicar" Top Fuel dragster. It is being put back together with some parts from (among others) Kent Fuller and Bucky Austin. The group plans to bring the car out at the NHRA Finals and put Ed McCulloch back in the driver's seat for the occasion.

They are still missing the full bodied tail section, however. The Agent offered the sleuthing services of the DRO readers to track down the piece, which was last seen at Al Swindahl's shop in the late 1960's. If anybody out there has some information that might help the project along, please contact rockstad@aol.com  [4-26-2006]
