NEW PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT FOR NHRA MOTORSPORTS MUSEUM

Mark your calendars if you're headed for SoCal for the NHRA World Finals. There will be a photography exhibit at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum titled '1960s Photographs of Pomona Drag Racing."

The exhibition will run Aug. 12, 2006 through Jan. 15, 2007. Dozens of dramatic vintage drag race images shot by National Dragster photographers examine a remarkable, head-on confrontation between two technologies that have shaped the Southern California psyche: cars and cameras.

The exhibit was originally developed by the California Museum of Photography and is presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California. [4-26-2006]

It’s DRO photographer Zak Hawthorne’s birthday today, so a tip of the Agent's party hat to Zak. 

And in other good news Zak's brother Ian earned his California driver's license this week. You may remember Ian as the Official Chauffeur of Funny Car driver Ron Capps at last season's Goodguys Pomona Nitro Nationals.

ODDY AND BAREMAN SHOWING SIGNS OF LIFE

Legendary Pro Mod engine builder and team owner Jim Oddy, his driver Steve Bareman, and Oddy’s Summit Racing Equipment-backed Dodge Stratus Pro Mod haven’t been on the Pro Mod radar screen this season. They have yet to qualify and, until they made two complete passes at the IHRA Rockingham race last weekend, had made about 20 passes or so without getting to the finish line at full throttle. The team may be on the verge of turning the season around as they made a couple of 230+ passes during qualifying at Rockingham. Although the ET’s weren’t up to the team’s standards and they didn’t qualify when rain washed out the last qualifying session at the Rock Saturday night, the car did run 230+ mph twice, making it one of only a few Pro Mod cars at the event that made laps of 230 mph or better.
