CAMERAS LOST AT PHOENIX RACE
Photographer Marty Reger is missing a couple of Nikon camera bodies and some lenses. The equipment was in a camera bag in front of the tower at Firebird Raceway on Monday,
Feb. 27. While Reger was shooting photos, the bag was moved and the camera gear taken. Reger filed a police report including the serial numbers on the equipment. If anyone has any information, please contact the Agent and we'll pass it along. As you can see from this spectacular photo of Melanie Troxel's fire, Reger's cameras are very important.
Despite a loss of 25 points for two oildowns on Sunday, Troxel held on to her Top Fuel points lead after reaching her third straight final round, and second consecutive in the 2006 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. (Marty Reger photo) [3-1-2006]
PHOENIX STATS
Jim Hawkins, DRO statistician, put together the following history for the Phoenix NHRA race. Phoenix saw its first 4-second run in the second round of the 1989 race, when Darrell Gwynn defeated Gary Ormsby. But the 1989 race was Shirley Muldowney's as she qualified No. 1, set Top Speed of the meet, set low reaction time, and beat Gwynn on a holeshot in the final.
While Al Hofmann ran the first 4's in Funny Car at the 1998 event, Chuck (first in 4's) Etchells set Low ET and Top Speed and went on to win the event. Etchells ran two 4's at the event, one in the second round over Whit Bazemore and one over an up-in-smoke Ron Capps in the final. Capps and Cruz Pedregon also recorded 4's during the first round of the event.
Warren Johnson and Jim Yates were the first in the 6's at Phoenix in 1997. WJ qualified No. 1 and set Low ET and Top Speed, but Yates won the event defeating WJ with a 6.995 in the final. [3-1-2006]
FUEL ALTS AT MOROSO

The traditional non-transformer Fuel Altereds Nanook and the Rat Trap have been booked by the folks at Moroso Motorsports Park for the weekend of March 11-12. According to one of the Agent's operatives, their appearance at Moroso will be the first time “real” Fuel Alts have run in Florida in 20 years. Fuel Alts at Moroso probably qualifies as one of those “don’t miss” Friday night at the drags the Agent really looks forward to. If you miss them at Moroso they will be making exhibition laps (hopefully) at NHRA’s shindig at Gainesville the following weekend thanks to the efforts of Steve Gibbs.
